Our swim lessons aren't just about learning how to swim; they're also about learning water safety! Structured from the YMCA's nationally recognized swim program, our swimmers will gain valuable knowledge on competitive swimming, basic water safety and rescue as well as learning the YMCA's core values:

CARING
Show a sincere concern for others

HONESTY
Be truthful in what you say and do

RESPECT
Follow the golden rule

RESPONSIBILITY
Be accountable for your promises and actions

The YMCA's core values are the basis of who we are, how we live our lives,, and how we treat others. Instructors will teach their students about what these values mean, lead discussions about using these values in and out of class, and celebrate a student for demonstrating these values. Our instructors will also be positive role models for their students and model these values in class.

Our swim lessons will be taught by professionally trained and dedicated instructors who will know how to create a fun and exciting learning environment. The role of our instructors will range from assisting parents with familiarizing their child with water in our Parent & Me lessons to being their child's instructors in our Preschool and Youth lessons.

There may be times during our lessons when our instructors may need to physically contact the swimmer in order to be the most effective. Our instructors will announce what they will be doing so that they do not startle the swimmer.

To help you and your child understand the benefits of each swim level are, we have provided you with not only an explanation of what each level will help your child accomplish but also what your child should aim to accomplish to move to the next swim level.
