Outdoor Adventure Programs
One of the advantages to living in Maine is having the opportunity to explore and experience the beauty of nature through various outdoor activities. As a Y, we not only view outdoor activities as a great way to explore Maine but as another way to help our community develop a healthy lifestyle. Our Outdoor Adventure is not only a great program for people to stay active outside, but also a great way for people to develop friendships through common outdoor interests.
Outdoor Adventure Club
Outdoor recreation improves overall fitness, skill acquisition, increases social connections and improves self-esteem. Our Outdoor Adventure Club focuses on these objectives and also hopes to provide greater opportunities for members to have access to many outdoor resources in our immediate area. We have an extensive river and stream system in which to explore and compete and a vast expanse of hiking trails and rock outcrops to enjoy and be challenged by.
Our Outdoor Adventure Club offers different outdoor activities depending on the season. Find out what activities we are currently offering.
New to Outdoor Adventure, our new outdoor cycling programs will provide an unforgettable experience through our overnight cycle tours in Downeast Maine and Prince Edward Island and our Sunday Morning Rides around Bangor. These tours will be lead by one of Maine's most skilled and experienced cyclists, Erik DaSilva!
Erik DaSilva has been cycling his whole life. Erik was ranked in the top 10 nationally as a cyclocross racer for several years. From 2002 to 2005 Erik coached the Drexel University cycling team and has worked in several bicycle repair shops. Currently, Erik works as a consultant for the Maine Bicycle Coalition and is certified through the League of American Bicyclists.
